Iranian media have taken aim at JD Vance ahead of high-stakes negotiations, circulating edited images portraying him as Mr Bean sitting and waiting — a pointed jab as uncertainty swirls around the talks.

The images, shared across Iranian channels, appear designed to ridicule Washington’s position as the next round of negotiations approaches, with no clear sign that Tehran is ready to engage.

Vance, alongside senior officials from the Trump administration, is expected to travel to Pakistan for a second round of intensive discussions aimed at extending a fragile ceasefire.

The talks come under mounting pressure, with the US president warning it is “highly unlikely” he will grant any further extension beyond the current deadline, which expires on Tuesday evening.

However, Iranian state media cast doubt over whether negotiations will proceed at all, claiming that no members of Tehran’s delegation had yet arrived — or even departed — for Islamabad.

“None of the Iranian delegation has arrived or even flown to Islamabad for negotiations with the US at the moment,” Iranian outlets reported.

The contrasting signals have raised fresh doubts about the viability of the talks, with tensions heightened by both public mockery and the lack of visible diplomatic progress.

With the ceasefire deadline looming and rhetoric hardening on both sides, the prospects for a breakthrough appear increasingly uncertain — and the risk of renewed confrontation remains close to the surface.
