Labour MP and GP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan gave a chilling warning that coronavirus has spread to patients as young as 30 and they are now fighting for their lives.
After working a weekend shift at St. George’s Hospital in Tooting, south London, coronavirus cases are rapidly growing across the capital, said Dr Allin-Khan
She further warned the UK is heading for a disaster.
Dr Allin-Khan told the BBC, “There is a very real sense that the number of cases is growing and now growing very, very quickly.
“Some of the most startling news seems to be that some of the sickest patients that we have had in this department recently have been young.
“We have patients who are in their 30s and early 40s who were previously fit and well who are now in intensive care and fighting for their lives.
“This is a virus which is very, very difficult to predict.”
The Dr gave another chilling warning, that doctors will very soon be forced to make heartbreaking decisions over who lives and who dies in being placed on a ventilator.
Former International Trade Secretary Dr Liam Fox, who formerly worked as a GP before entering Parliament said, “We know from data in Italy the type of patients who are particularly vulnerable, those with an underlying condition, cardiac or respiratory conditions, for example.
“The problem here is that young people may not die in the same numbers from this virus but they may well be hospitalised.
“They may take up capacity in the health system, particularly in intensive care beds from those who may be more vulnerable and need them.”
The doctor wrote about his experiences and said there is “little we can do” and victims are dying in front of his eyes.
