The Office for National Statistics (ONS) today said people contracting the new UK virus variant are less likely to report losing taste and smell as part of their symptoms.

The ONS said the condition was “significantly less common” in patients who tested positive for the new variant compared to those with other variants of COVID-19.

Other symptoms include a cough, sore throat, fatigue, muscle ache and fever. It comes as the death toll of pandemic in the UK has topped 100,000. Prime Minister called the statistic “grim” last night in a press conference.
