The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) has proposed that MPs are to get a pay rise of £3,300 from 2021.
IPSA said MPs wages are linked to the public sector three-month annual growth figure of 4.1%, which could exceed inflation.
MPs currently receive a salary of £81,932 and from 2021 they will receive an extra £3,360 whilst working from the comfort of their homes.
Whilst they are getting a substantial pay rise almost 700,000 people have lost jobs and around 500,000 more jobs are expected to be gone by the end of the year within the hospitality sector.
IPSA interim chairman Richard Lloyd said, “Given the huge economic uncertainties arising from the pandemic, we do not think it is right to depart from this approach now.”
