The Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced in her Spring Budget to MPs in the House of Commons on Wednesday that she is extending the fuel duty freeze for motorists.

In 2022 the former Tory Chancellor Jeremy Hunt cut fuel duty by 5p amid Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine which massively affected the price of oil.

Campaigner for fuel duty, Howard Cox said he is “shocked” by the Chancellor’s decision and extending the fuel duty freeze is “at the core of a laudable journey to economic growth.”
