The second round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine are to start in Belarus at midday today at UK time.

Belarusian state news agency Belta quoted chief Russian negotiator Vladimir Medinsky as saying Moscow is ready for talks to end the fighting.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that despite the talks his troops will not stop fighting and bombing Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Kremlin must stop bombing Ukrainian cities before peace talks can resume, on Tuesday.

The first round took place on 28 February and according to Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the President’s Office of Ukraine, “the parties identified a number of priority topics on which certain decisions were outlined.”
