The Ukrainian President’s plane came under a drone attack breaching a no-fly zone as it approached Dublin Airport last Monday evening.
Four military style drones breached the no-fly zone but thankfully President Volodymyr Zelensky’s plane was ahead of schedule so the aircraft avoided the drones.
Ireland’s justice minister Jim O’Callaghan said that this was part of a “coordinated threat to EU and Ukrainian interests.”
O’Callaghan said he will not speculate if the attack was state sponsored, but he did say it “certainly wasn’t a back garden drone enthusiast.”

Police are investigating the presence of military style drones over Dublin as the Ukrainian President was flying to visit Ireland last week.
Within the next week the National Security Council will provide the Taoiseach with a “comprehensive report.”
The Gardai (Irish Police) said a Special Detective Unit will be working with the Defence Forces to investigate the incident along with international partners.
O’Callaghan said whilst in Brussels he is “not going to reach a determination yet” if it was state sponsored.
“I think it’s fair to say that we think this is part of a coordinated threat to EU and Ukrainian interests,” he said on Monday.
“Our suspicion is that this was drones that were generated for the purpose of putting pressure on EU and, indeed, Ukrainian interests.
“I have to say, however, that the visit of President Zelensky to Dublin last week was a success.
“The Gardai did a very good job in terms of ensuring that security was at a very high and effective level.
“There’s an investigation ongoing in respect of the presence of drones out in Dublin Bay.
“The gardai have very good anti-drone technology and we’re going to be spending more in terms of defence just in terms of seeking to combat drone technology, because, as you’ll see, its not just an issue in respect of Ireland but throughout the European Union there are issues in respect of greater threats being exposed as a result of drone technology.”
Taoiseach Micheal Martin told reporters in Dublin there has been a “significant escalation” of “hybrid attack” against European Union countries from Russia.
The four military style drones breached the no-fly zone but thankfully President Volodymyr Zelensky’s plane was ahead of schedule so the aircraft avoided the drones.
The military style drones then flew out to the Irish Sea then flew over a naval vessel which was deployed for the state visit.
The Journal was told by sources that the drones took off from northeast Dublin and flew for up to two hour, the Irish police are investigating if they took off from an undetected ship or from land.
