Jamal Edwards, the 23-year-old founder of online TV channel SB.TV, has received investment from Miroma Ventures in a deal valuing the business at £8m.
While the size of the investment remains undisclosed, the technology and music investment specialists plan to pump a further £1m into the business “in the near future”.
“I want channels on fashion, comedy, sport, business, games and gadgets all built in the SB.TV world,” Edwards told The Guardian. “I understand the world of youth, the urban landscape, like the back of my hand and now I want to enter the wider world.”
Edwards launched SB.TV seven years ago uploading videos he filmed with a video camera he was given for Christmas.
