The government are to review the foreign travel list on Thursday and there is hope that holidaymakers will be given more options for quarantine free travel.
Malta and Balearics Islands could be added to the governments green list as scientists deem these countries as safe for holidaymakers.
The travel industry have described travel to the Balearics as a “game changer” as there is no quarantine upon return back to the UK.
According to The Times, Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Malta are among a “handful” of destinations being considered for the green list for holidaymakers.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps was asked about the prospect of restrictions being eased in Thursday’s review.
Shapps told the PA news agency, “Of course I very much hope the world could open up.
“We’ve got to follow the data, and that’s what we’ll be doing in the meetings over the next few days.”
