Footage has appeared online showing the moment 14 Russian soldiers surrendered following a fierce battle on the frontline in Luhansk.

The video shows broken Russian soldiers receiving medical treatment after having given up their weapons to Ukrainian troops.

The Luhansk region has been the scene of fierce fighting in recent weeks, the governor of the region Serhiy Gaidai told national TV that Russia are sending in large numbers of reserve troops from other areas of Ukraine into Sievierodonetsk.

He said, “Today, tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, they will throw in all the reserves they have, because there are so many of them there already, they’re at critical mass.”

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited his troops on the southern frontline in the Mykolaiv region.

Zelensky wrote on Telegram, “I talked to our defenders – the military, the police, the national guard.

“Their mood is assured: they all do not doubt our victory.

“We will not give the south to anyone, and all that is ours we will take back.”

The UK’s latest intelligence update has said that both the Ukraine and Russia are under “heavy artillery bombardments” and both sides are engaged in “intense combat in the Donbas.”

The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that whole Russian units are “refusing orders” and there are “armed stand-offs between officers and their troops.”

The British MoD said, “In recent days, both Russia and Ukraine have continued to conduct heavy artillery bombardments on axes to the north, east and south of the Sieverodonetsk pocket, but with little change in the front line.

“Combat units from both sides are committed to intense combat in the Donbas and are likely experiencing variable morale.

“Ukrainian forces have likely suffered desertions in recent weeks, however, Russian moral highly likely remains especially troubled.
