The Department for Transport (DfT) has given four ferry companies post-Brexit freight contracts worth a total of £77.6m.
The DfT said that they have signed contracts with Brittany Ferries, P&O, Stena Line and DFDS.
The government said that this will ensure vital medical supplies and essential goods “continue to be smoothly delivered into the UK whatever the outcome of negotiations with the EU.”
Once the Brexit transition period ends on 31 December, the contracts will commence for up to six months.
