Quentin Griffiths, one of the co-founders of online fashion giant Asos, has died after falling from the 17th floor of his apartment in Pattaya, Thailand.
Paramedics and police found his body beneath the building on Friday. Investigators have reported no signs of disturbance in the flat, but the investigation remains ongoing to determine if foul play was involved.
A source close to the family described the circumstances as a “real mystery”.
The father of five had lived in Thailand for nearly 20 years. His death comes amid an ongoing financial dispute with his ex-wife. Last year, he was arrested over allegations she made that he forged documents to dispose of land and company shares, which he denied. Investigations were still active at the time of his death, providing context for the situation.
Griffiths co-founded Asos alongside Nick Robertson and Andrew Regan, serving as the company’s marketing director for 4 years before leaving in 2005.
He made millions from the company, selling shares in 2010 and 2013, and later sued accountants over tax advice he claimed had cost him more than £4 million. Griffiths also helped create the online retailer Achica.
A Foreign Office spokesperson said, “We are supporting the family of a British national who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities,” highlighting official support and ongoing cooperation.
