The iPhone 6 may well be around the corner, but Apple has even more exciting plans in the pipeline.

Rumour has it that the tech giant is planning to launch its own line of electric cars and a device that can predict heart attacks.

According to theSan Francisco Chronicle, Apple CEO Tim Cook and former spy turned Apple’s acquisitions officer Adrian Perica met Tesla CEO Elon Musk in the spring to discuss Apple’s debut in the automobile industry.

The report read: “While a megadeal has yet to emerge, such a high-level meeting between the two Silicon Valley giants involving their top dealmakers suggests Apple was very much interested in buying the electric car pioneer.”

Apple is also rumoured to launch medical devices with the help of audio engineer Tomlinson Holman, who developed LucasFilm’s famous THX technology.

It plans to launch a device which listens to the way blood is flowing through a person’s arteries. This is expected to help predict when a person may suffer a heart attack.

“Apple must increasingly rely on new products to reignite growth,” Bill Kreher, an analyst with Edward Jones Investments in St. Louis, told the Chronicle. “They need the next big thing.”
