Sage the leader in accounting, financial, HR, and payroll technology for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) today shared at Accountex the support it will provide UK accountants and bookkeepers. Providing the entire accountants community with digital tools and education that supports them to understand the impact Making Tax Digital for Income tax and self-assessment (MTD for ITSA) will have on their practice, and how they can maximise the opportunity.

From its stand at Europe’s definitive accounting event, Sage shared the innovative ways it is supporting accountants to navigate MTD for ITSA. Paving the way for sole traders and landlords to complete digital record-keeping in the future, and in addition to having its solution HMRC-recognised, Sage showcased the free of charge practice-ready tools available as part of Sage for Accountants. Designed to help the entire UK accountants and bookkeepers community to future proof their practice, these include:

ROI (return on investment) Calculator

The ROI calculator is available to all accountants in the UK and designed to give immediate feedback on the impact MTD for ITSA will have on both their practice, and their client’s business. Sharing insights on how and where the changes will affect practices provides the opportunity for them to target and prioritise actions, as well as ensure that the services they deliver remains meaningful to clients. Sharing insight on the benefit automation can provide, the ROI calculator supports accountants to unlock the efficiency and profitability of their practice.

4-Step Practice Success plan

A new series of bespoke accountancy masterclasses, offered free through Sage for Accountants and as part of the newly announced Sage Membership gives UK accountants and bookkeepers the opportunity to learn how to build a clear, confident, and profitable plan for MTD for ITSA. Providing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits, these practical tools will give accountants and bookkeepers the skills to support their practice and their client’s needs.

“We’re in an unprecedented time. Our industry is in the wake of the biggest shift we have seen for 25 years – and our mission is to help UK businesses to be ready for what’s next.” said Neal Watkins, EVP Product, Sage.

“MTD for ITSA offers accountants the opportunity to be more productive, but first they must understand the impact on their practice. The tools we are offering helps them to unlock this potential, making it simple for them to deliver for their clients.”

The human touch

Supporting Sage accountants and bookkeepers to build an actionable plan ahead of the April 2024 deadline, Sage consultants will provide 1-2-1 advice where needed to help transform complex information into innovation. Bringing together the elements that Sage practices have learned from the ROI calculators and the 4-step success plan, Sage will support practice success by helping accountants and bookkeepers to build executable plans.
