Poland’s most senior general has warned that they are “preparing for war” with Russia following Russian sabotage attacks.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces Wieslaw Kukula warned that the Kremlin is creating conditions in Poland for aggression on their territory.

The Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that a railway track between Warsaw and Lublin was blown up.

Polish security services have said that “everything indicates” that Vladimir Putin ordered the sabotage attack on the railway which resulted in a huge explosion.

Jacek Dobrzyński, press spokesman for the Minister-Coordinator of Special Services was asked about the incident, he said, “Everything indicates that Russian intelligence ordered the sabotage of Polish railways.

“I assure you that officers are doing everything they can to investigate this matter. I would recommend greater restraint at this point. Information coming from unknown sources, which is being replicated by some stations, may be Russian disinformation. I don’t want to judge the perpetrators, the bandits, I don’t want to judge their professionalism.”

Tusk said that this is an “unprecedented act of sabotage” as the railway connects to Ukraine to send vital Western aid shipments.

Tusk wrote on X, “Unfortunately, the worst fears have been confirmed. On the Warsaw-Lublin route (Mika village), an act of sabotage has occurred. The explosion of an explosive device destroyed the railway track.

Emergency services and the prosecutor’s office are working at the scene. On the same route, closer to Lublin, damage has also been identified.”

Poland is under increased Russian attacks including cyber, sabotage and espionage which is linked directly to Belarus and Moscow.

Kukula told Polskie Radio, Poland’s public broadcast radio, “(Russia) has begun the period of preparing for war. They are building an environment here intended to create conditions favourable for potential aggression on Polish territory.”

“If anyone has been to war, they know that what we are experiencing today is not an actual war; it is, in fact, a pre‑war situation — or what we refer to as hybrid warfare,” Kukula said ahead of the explosions.
