Cornwall was hit with a magnitude 2.2 earthquake at around 6pm on Thursday with some describing it as a “sonic boom” or a “loud bang from beneath.”

The British Geological Survey (BGS) said the tremor had a magnitude of 2.2 three miles south west of Falmouth.
The BGS said there are around 15 earthquakes yearly in the UK.
