Holidaymakers warned Spanish islands could be put back onto the amber list

Holidaymakers planning a trip abroad to a green country urged that the governments travel advice could change very quickly to the amber list.

This comes as the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has signaled that the Spanish Balearic Islands could be moving back on to the amber list this week.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast Shapps said, “I hope we have made very clear to everybody when booking trips at the moment there is always the chance that countries will move around.

“Some countries may go to the red list, some countries may go to the green, but some may move the other way to the amber list.

“It is a fact of life that they will continue to move around as the virus continues to develop and change globally.”

On Thursday the government are to update the travel list, although reports have suggested that Shapps could make the announcement 24-hours earlier and face the medie on Wednesday.
