On Wednesday, May 25th, Google’s May 2022 Core Update began to roll out and is expected to take one to two weeks to complete.

This is the first broad core update of 2022, with the last one rolled out back in November.

As with all of Google’s broad core updates, we’ll have to wait and see exactly what changes will come as part of the May 2022 Core Update, but for website owners, the changes are likely to be unique to them and impossible to predict.

No need to worry, though. The team at the SEO agency Good Signals have put together this guide about navigating May’s Core Update to help worried business owners, marketing teams and bloggers deal with any potential ranking fluctuations or concerns they may have.

The main advice with these Google Core Updates is to not take any immediate action in the next two weeks. Until the update has finished rolling out, you may expect to see fluctuations. That’s normal. Simply keep an eye on it and assess once Google announces that the update has been fully rolled out.

Google releases broad core updates consistently, usually waiting months in between. The previous update, the November 2021 Core Update, happened on November 17th 2021 and its effects were felt soon after.
