Facebook might be eyeing troubled smartphone maker BlackBerry, it has emerged.
TheWall Street Journal has reported that BlackBerry executives held meetings with Facebook last week to see if the social networking giant wanted to snap up the business.
The meeting has fuelled rumours about Facebook planning to launch its own smartphone. Also, over 73% of Facebook traffic is now coming from mobile devices.
Last month, BlackBerry agreed to a buyout plan proposed by a consortium of Canadian investors led by Fairfax Financial Holdings. The company said it would entertain other offers during a due-diligence period that ends on 4 November.
Both Facebook and BlackBerry declined to comment.
