EasyJet has announced the cancellation of all its flights to and from Cyprus on Monday as a direct consequence of an Iranian drone attack that targeted RAF Akrotiri last night.
The airline, the largest in the UK, has axed two inbound and two outbound flights connecting Paphos with London Gatwick and Manchester. Additionally, one inbound and one outbound flight connecting Larnaca with London Gatwick have been cancelled.
The disruptions stem from a drone strike that occurred at RAF Akrotiri around midnight local time (22:00 GMT) on Sunday. This military base, which is strategically located on the southern coast of Cyprus, serves as an important hub for operations in the region. Larnaca lies to the east of the base, while Paphos is to the west.
Due to the incident, Paphos was reportedly evacuated early Monday morning after radar detected a suspicious object in the area, prompting safety concerns among local authorities and military personnel.

According to reports from Hermes Airport, the entity responsible for managing operations at both Larnaca and Paphos airports, the cancellations are extensive, affecting a total of 42 flights to Larnaca and 18 to Paphos.
This series of cancellations is expected to cause significant disruptions for travellers and may lead to further updates as authorities assess the situation and ensure the region’s ultimate safety.
An easyJet spokesperson said: “Due to the events overnight affecting the RAF base in Akrotiri in Cyprus, as a precaution, three return flights between Paphos and Larnaca and the UK today will not be operating.
“Flights from March 3 are currently operating as planned, but we would advise customers due to travel to and from Cyprus over the coming days to check our flight tracker for the latest information.
“We are doing all we can to minimise the impact for our customers and are providing options for rebooking including on other airlines or a refund as well as hotel accommodation and meals for those who require them.
“The safety of our customers and crew is our highest priority and we continue to closely monitor the security situation in the region.
