On Wednesday Sky News reported an interview between the Economics and data editor Ed Conway, where Sir Jim Ratcliffe who is the founder of the INEOS chemical group said that the UK “has been colonised by immigrants.”

Sir Jim who is also the part owner of Manchester United warned the UK is facing social and economic challenges.

Sir Jim said, “You can’t have an economy with nine million people on benefits and huge levels of immigrants coming in.

“I mean, the UK has been colonised. It’s costing too much money.

“The UK has been colonised by immigrants, really, hasn’t it? I mean, the population of the UK was 58 million in 2020, now it’s 70 million. That’s 12 million people.”

The former Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne agrees with Sir Jim’s migration warning which has annoyed the Prime Minister.

Bannatyne said, “Here, here” after the Sun’s former editor Kelvin McKenzie said the IINEOS billionaire “Is to be listened to.”

McKenzie said, “Certainly in some parts of the country the density of migrants makes you wonder if you are still in Britain.

He and his company have paid more tax to our Exchequer over the years than all his critics put together.

University professor Dr Kehinde Ross claims the migrants are in the UK “because we had a massive shortage of people to work in the care sector”.

Dr Ross added, “Then another lot of migrants pay visa fees, health surcharge as well as tax and National Insurance contributions. What does [Sir Jim] mean by ‘They are costing too much money’?”

Bannatyne hit back with a spectacular response, “You think all the male fighting class immigrants arriving by boats now are paying for their own accommodation and food and medical bills and legal representation?

He also shared a post reading: “The more millionaires and billionaires that speak out, the stronger our voice becomes.”

Sir Keir Starmer said that Sir Jim’s comments are “offensive and wrong,” he then claimed, “Britain is a proud, tolerant and diverse country. Jim Ratcliffe should apologise.”

During the Sky News interview Sir Jim took aim at Starmer, suggesting that he might not be right for the job, “I don’t know whether it’s just the apparatus that hasn’t allowed Keir to do it or, or he’s maybe too nice – I mean, Keir is a nice man. I like him, but it’s a tough job and I think you have to do some difficult things with the UK to get it back on track, because at the moment I don’t think the economy is in a good state.

He recalled meeting the Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, Sir Jim said, “I think Nigel is an intelligent man, and, I think he’s got good intentions.

“But in a way, you could say exactly the same about Keir Starmer. I think it needs somebody who’s prepared to be unpopular for a period of time to get the big issues sorted out.”

Sir Jim added, “I’ve seen quite a bit of this at the football club. If you do difficult things, which we felt that we had to do at Manchester United... we felt like they were the right things to do. But you do become very unpopular for a while.”
