Belarus has warned there is a “high probability” that Ukraine are preparing for “armed provocations” against their country.

The Belarusian Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin said on Friday the situation is “tense” on their border and President Alexander Lukashenko who is a staunch ally of Vladimir Putin warned that Ukraine could attack Belarus which will then widen the war.

Khrenin said, “Given the presence of Ukrainian armed formations in the border areas, there is a high probability of preparing and carrying out armed provocations on our territory, as well as high-profile actions, including with the involvement of Belarusian nationalist formations.”

Lukashenko urged for Kyiv and Moscow to “sit down at the negotiating table” to end the war on Thursday.

He said, “Let’s sit down at the negotiating table and end this fight. Neither the Ukrainian people, nor the Russians, nor the Belarusians need it.

“They need it. I cannot cite these facts, they are closed, where they speak openly – high-ranking people. Literally: ‘Let them fight each other – Ukrainians, Russians – let them all die in this cauldron’.”

“These are high-ranking people talking about it. They are of American origin (I’ll tell you a little bit). Is this normal? They want us to destroy each other,” Lukashenko added.
