Twitter has made a series of new appointments in a move that could pave the way for an initial public offering in 2014.

The social network has appointed former Ticketmaster chief Nathan Hubbard as its first head of commerce and has also hired corporate and securities law specialist Vijaya Gadde as general counsel.

Max Wolff, analyst, Greencrest Capital, told City A.M.: “The recent hirings indicate the company is doing everything they need to do to prepare to file an IPO in 2014, but until they file I would expect them to deny this.”
