The UK’s largest retailer Tesco has debuted in the tablet space today with Hudl, a £119 tablet.
The Android-operated seven-inch tablet has a widescreen display and 16GB memory, which can be extended to 48GB.
Being offered in black, blue, red and purple, Hudl has an in-built Tesco launcher button which allows users to shop, listen to music, see their Clubcard points and watch movies on Tesco’s Blinkbox system.
Tesco chief executive Philip Clarke said: “Being online is an increasingly essential part of family life and whilst tablets are on the rise, usage is still quite limited.
“We feel the time is right for Tesco to help widen tablet ownership and bring the fun, convenience and excitement of tablets to even more customers across the UK.”
The Hudl goes on sale on 30 September.
