Samsung to launch 5G that will let users download a film in a second

South Korean tech giant Samsung has announced that it has developed 5G mobile technology which is “several hundred times faster” than current 4G networks and could let users download a film in just one second.

Samsung In a blog post, Samsung claimed that “subscribers will be able to enjoy a wide range of services such as 3D movies and games, real-time streaming of ultra high-definition (UHD) content, and remote medical services.”

The new 5G tests are giving speeds of  “up to 1.056 gigabytes (Gbps)” for a a distance of two kilometres.

“Samsung’s recent success in developing the adaptive array transceiver technology has brought us one step closer to the commercialisation of 5G mobile communications in the millimetre-wave bands,” said Chang-Yeong Kim, head of the firm’s Digital Media & Communication Centre in Seoul.
