Sage was hit by a cyber attack this week

A 32-year-old woman who worked at Sage was arrested by police at Heathrow Airport today.

City of London police said the woman, who has not been named, was arrested on suspicion that she had a role to play in the data breach that happened at the accountancy firm earlier this week.

The cyber attack put personal details of employees of close to 300 firms at risk.

The firm said in a statement: “We are investigating unauthorised access to customer information using an internal login.

“We cannot comment further whilst we work with the authorities to investigate but our customers remain our first priority and we are speaking directly with those affected,” it added.

Last year, a cyber attack cost TalkTalk customers a whopping £60m. Personal details of almost 157,000 customers was hacked and this led to the company losing 101,000 customers.
