A senior Kremlin diplomat has warned that Russia and the West are “dangerously” on the edge of direct military conflict with NATO.
The Russian diplomat accused NATO of putting “pressure” on Moscow which could trigger direct conflict with nuclear powers.
NATO and allies have been putting pressure on Moscow with a series of strong sanctions, training Ukrainian forces and supplying them with tens of billions of high-tech weaponry.

State run Tass news agency said that the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said, “The response measures that we had to take, which included the important aspect of protecting the external security contour on the western axis, have been used by our adversaries as a pretext to start putting military pressure on Russia.”
He then warned, “This pressure has been dangerously balancing on the edge of a direct military conflict between nuclear powers.”
He accused NATO of a “malicious expansion” an further warned the “crisis is far from being resolved and is posing a major risk of further escalation.”
