Ukrainian drones reportedly targeted the Tikhoretsk district in southern Russia, setting off a fire at the Tikhoretsk Oil Hub, one of the region’s largest crude transhipment points.
The blaze, which covered approximately 150 square meters, required 83 personnel and 26 pieces of firefighting equipment to control.
Analysis by the Russian media outlet Astra indicates that several fuel tanks at the depot were engulfed in flames.
The hub, managed by Tikhoretsk-Nafta LLC, a subsidiary of Transneft, is directly linked to the Tikhoretskaya linear production and dispatch station, a vital route for transporting crude to Black Sea ports.
In response to the situation, authorities imposed traffic restrictions on the Tikhoretsk-Belaya Glina highway to ensure the safety of emergency responders.
Meanwhile, Russian air defences claimed to have intercepted 80 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 30 over Krasnodar Krai and eight over the Black Sea. Additional sightings were reported in Rostov, Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk, Kaluga, Voronezh, and occupied Crimea. Ukraine has not confirmed responsibility for these strikes.
Further complicating the situation for Russia’s energy infrastructure, Gazprom reported attacks on the Russkaya, Beregovaya, and Kazachya compressor stations, which are part of the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines, on March 10-11. These attacks were reportedly repelled.

Experts suggest that these incidents indicate a broader campaign targeting Russia’s southern oil and gas infrastructure. Disruption at the Tikhoretsk Oil Hub could affect crude oil flows to Black Sea export ports, potentially impacting global energy markets and oil prices.
The increase in drone activity across southern Russia and Crimea underscores the growing vulnerability of critical energy infrastructure amidst the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
