A private jet erupted into a devastating fireball after crew members desperately attempted to return to the airport moments after take-off, with chilling footage capturing the aircraft’s final seconds before it was consumed by flames.
The doomed flight had departed from La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic and was bound for Austin, Texas, when disaster struck shortly after becoming airborne.
According to local reports, the pilots declared an emergency approximately 16 nautical miles south-west of the airport after experiencing serious mechanical problems. Realising they could not safely continue their journey, the crew turned the aircraft around and began an urgent return to the runway.
What followed was a catastrophe.
Footage of the incident shows the white business jet hurtling across the ground at high speed after its attempted landing. As the aircraft skidded violently along the runway area, enormous clouds of dirt and dust billowed into the air behind it.
The force of the impact appeared so severe that parts of the fuselage began breaking apart as the aircraft slid out of control.
Seconds later, flames suddenly burst from the rear of the jet.

As the aircraft continued to disintegrate, the blaze rapidly intensified before triggering a powerful explosion that engulfed the wreckage in a towering inferno.
Dense black smoke could be seen rising high above the airport as emergency crews raced towards the burning remains of the aircraft.
Despite their efforts, the jet was completely destroyed.
The crash claimed the lives of both crew members on board.
Dominican media identified the victims as American nationals Erick Javier Diago and Rudy Ghazal. No passengers were believed to be travelling on the flight at the time of the disaster.
Dominican aviation authorities confirmed the aircraft was a Gulfstream G200 executive jet operating under US registration N318JF.
The aircraft, manufactured in 2004, belonged to Aibonito Aviation LLC, a private aviation company based in Puerto Rico.
Investigators are now working to establish exactly what caused the fatal mechanical failure.
The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute and the country’s Aviation Accident Investigation Commission confirmed that emergency procedures were activated immediately following the crash.
While questions remain over the precise sequence of events, the footage provides a stark reminder of how quickly routine flights can descend into tragedy.
For the two pilots, what began as an emergency return to safety ended in a catastrophic fireball just moments from the runway.
