Britain is bracing for another blistering heatwave just days after record-breaking June temperatures scorched large parts of the country.

Forecasters say London and much of central and southern England are set to bake once again from next week, with temperatures expected to soar into the mid-30s as high pressure returns.

Weather projections from MetDesk indicate the capital could reach 32C on July 7 before climbing to a sweltering 36C on July 8 — potentially making it the hottest day of the latest hot spell.

The extreme temperatures are then expected to persist, with forecasts suggesting London will remain above 30C for at least five consecutive days through to July 12.

Much of England is also expected to endure temperatures above 30C, although the capital is forecast to experience the most intense conditions.

The latest heatwave comes after an exceptional spell of hot weather saw London endure four consecutive days with temperatures in the mid-30s.

The soaring temperatures placed increasing pressure on emergency services, with the London Ambulance Service reporting a significant rise in patients suffering from heat-related illnesses during the recent hot spell.

Weather maps show large areas of central and southern England turning deep red, indicating widespread temperatures exceeding 30C across much of the region.

Conditions are expected to remain particularly hot on July 9, with forecasts indicating highs of around 34C, before temperatures ease only slightly towards the end of the week while remaining well above average.

The Met Office’s longer-range outlook also points towards a continuation of settled, dry weather into the second week of July.

Forecasters say high pressure is expected to dominate across England and Wales, creating ideal conditions for temperatures to build steadily over several days.

If the forecasts prove accurate, millions of people could once again face another prolonged spell of intense heat just days after Britain experienced one of its hottest June periods on record.

Health officials are expected to urge people to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day and check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours as temperatures climb once again.
