A retired Russian colonel has slammed the Kremlin on state TV in a rare interview discussing Vladimir Putin’s invasion into the Ukraine.

Studio guest Mikhail Khodarenok who is a military analyst and retired colonel told 60 minutes which is Russian state TV flagship show that the “situation [for Russia] will clearly get worse” as the West are providing state of the art weaponry meaning “the Ukrainian army can arm a million people.”

Speaking of the Ukrainian soldiers, he told the programme, “The desire to defend their motherland very much exists.

“Ultimate victory on the battlefield is determined by the high morale of troops who are spilling blood for the ideas they are ready to fight for.

“The biggest problem with [Russia’s] military and political situation.”

The retired colonel warned, “that we are in total political isolation and the whole world is against us, even if we don’t want to admit it.

“We need to resolve this situation.

“The situation cannot be considered normal when against us, there is a coalition of 42 countries and when our resources, military-political and military-technical, are limited.”

The programme’s host Olga Skabeyeva who is a staunch supporter of the Kremlin was left without words and the studio went silent as hearing the truth of the matter.

He also criticised “enthusiastic hawks and hasty cuckoos” as many Russians believed that they would easily win a war against Ukraine.

Khodarenok then said, “An armed conflict with Ukraine is not in Russia’s national interests.”

The Kremlin has constantly said that the war in Ukraine is going according to plan and has been desperatly trying to control the information that is being provided.
