Vladimir Putin has warned that he will deploy banned “shorter-range missiles” if Washington goes ahead with their plans to send “long-range weapons” to Germany.
Putin has gone full throttle with his threats he will deploy missiles to the US and “its minions in Europe” and to other locations in the world.
Earlier this month Washington announced that they will send to Germany nuclear capable long-range missiles closer to Western countries which will help to strengthen NATO’s borders and also act as a deterrent for Moscow.
This move has sparked renewed concerns from Moscow and the Russian leader has as a result warned this is “reminiscent of the Cold War.”
On Sunday Putin said speaking in St Petersburg, “If the United States carries through these plans, we will consider ourselves to be free from our unilateral moratorium on deploying intermediate- and shorter-range strike weapons, including measures to raise the capabilities of coastal defence troops of our Navy.

We will take measures in kind to deploy them, taking into account the moves by the United States and its minions in Europe and other regions of the world.
Washington has said they will send Tomahawk cruise missiles, long-range SM-6 missiles which were banned under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty 1987, flowing the INF it is forbidden to send nuclear or conventional weapons with ranges between 300 and 3,4000 miles.
Putin said “this situation is reminiscent of the events of the Cold War period,” as the US are to send Pershing II intermediate-range ballistic missiles to West Germany.
Moscow threatened last week they will not rule out the deployment of nuclear missiles in response to Berlin agreeing to have long-range US missiles based in Germany.
The US will be “arming a new multi-domain task force that blends both air defense and land attack missiles,” Popular Mechanics reported.
The US will also be sending their new “Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon” (LRHW) which was designed and built jointly with the US Navy and Army.
The White House said, the new weapons “have significantly longer range than current land-based fires in Europe.”
Moscow said, “missile threats to Russia will not be left without due response on our part.”
On Thursday the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov was asked by reporters if Russia will deploy nuclear missiles in response.
Russian state news agency TASS reported that Ryabkov said, “I don’t rule anything out.
“If officials from the German federal government believe it reasonable to carry out inflammatory activities, citing what we have in the region (Russia’s westernmost Kaliningrad region – TASS), then we will respond with retaliatory measures we deem appropriate.”
He said that Russia must recalibrate their response to NATO’s capacities without any “internal constraint” with what they will deploy to who and when.
He added, “That said, there is a wide range of options. It’s not about threatening anyone, it’s a way to find the most effective method to respond to the changing challenges, particularly in terms of costs.”
