Moscow is demanding that Kyiv cannot be allowed to join NATO as priority for resolving Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.
Moscow has also said they will not allow NATO troops to act as peacekeepers in Ukraine even though they legally have no say over what a sovereign nation does.
Moscow has warned that should NATO peacekeepers be inside Ukraine they will see this as an “uncontrolled escalation.”
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told the Rossiya-24 television channel., “And will not only seek ironclad international guarantees that will prevent Ukraine’s membership in NATO in any form, but we will also insist it will become a policy of the alliance itself.”

Grushko who is clearly speaking for Putin said, “For us, this is one of the key elements of a possible deal on the conflict in Ukraine, this relates to the elimination of the root causes of this conflict,” to end Ukraine discussing joining NATO.
NATO has said that Ukraine is on an “irreversible” path to join the alliance during a summit in Washington 2024.
The British Prime Minister and the German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius both said they will provide troops for a peacekeeping missions in Ukraine.
Pistorius said that Germany is NATO’s largest member and they do “have a role to play” in keeping the peace in Ukraine and that other allies will play a “full part” also, the Kyiv Independent reports.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, “The intervention of NATO troops in Ukraine is categorically unacceptable for Russia, it will turn into uncontrolled escalation.”
