Do you buy pre-owned gifts?

The cost of Christmas can certainly rise each year, website musicMagpie.co.uk had found the 45 per cent of Brits would prefer to spend their money on a pre-owned gift.

The research also found that the average person spends £450 at Christmas. However, many Brits are saving £105 through pre-owned items, cutting the cost by nearly 25 per cent.

A huge 53 per cent of people who had received pre-owned Christmas gifts in the past didn’t mind that it was second-hand.

As well as this 49 per cent of people see buying a pre-owned gift as a good opportunity to find something rare and unique.

A quarter of Brits (25 per cent) would consider making their entire Christmas pre-owned, buying only second-hand or refurbished gifts for friends and family.

Liam Howley, group marketing director at musicMagpie.co.uk, said: “Giving a pre-owned present doesn’t mean that the gift is lower quality; in fact, our survey has shown that a fifth would actually be happy if every gift they received at Christmas was pre-owned. Consumers are really savvy these days and through the musicMagpie Store, bargain hunters can find some great deals on quality pre-owned and new entertainment and tech for their family and friends this Christmas.”
