Move over Carlos Slim, because Australian mining mogul Gina Rinehart could soon be the world’s richest person, according to Australian business magazine BRW.
The magazine says Rinehart, 58, currently has a fortune worth A$29bn (£18bn), and is thought to make A$600 (£374) a second and A$52m (£32m) a day from her iron-ore business, Hancock Prospecting.
She could be on track to the world’s first $100bn person. BRW attributed her wealth increase to “foreign investment in new projects, increased production and a recovery in the iron-ore price over the past six months.”
