A new event dedicated to one of the most important conversations facing families today – what happens to the wealth, businesses and assets we spend our lives building – will take place at Dubai Creek on 24th November 2026.

The Family Legacy Event, created by Khalid Al Fahim and Wilbert Heijmans, and hosted and co-organised by Harvard Business School Club of the GCC, will bring together business leaders, family offices, entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts to explore how wealth and legacies can be successfully passed from one generation to the next.

The UAE’s Year of the Family 2026 places families at the heart of the country’s long-term social and economic development, making 2026 an important opportunity to encourage greater conversations around financial preparedness, succession and protecting future generations.

Khalid Al Fahim, Co-founder of Dubai Family Legacy Conference, said: “Family businesses and family wealth have played an extraordinary role in the development of the UAE. As we celebrate the Year of the Family, there is a strong opportunity to encourage families to think proactively about succession and the legacy they want to create. Preparing the next generation and ensuring assets, businesses and important information can be transferred effectively is ultimately about protecting what families have spent generations building.”

Saleh Lootah, President of the Harvard Business School Club of the GCC, said: “The UAE’s Year of the Family creates an important opportunity to have conversations that families can sometimes postpone. Building wealth is only one part of creating a lasting legacy. Families also need to consider how knowledge, responsibility, businesses and assets are passed successfully between generations. Education is fundamental to that process, and this event is designed to bring together expertise and experience that can help families plan for the future with greater confidence.”

Wilbert Heijmans, Founder and CEO of Life After Me, said: “We spend our lives building – our businesses, our wealth, our homes, our relationships and our memories – but very few people stop to think about how the people they leave behind will access and understand everything that matters. Wealth transfer isn’t only about money. It is about creating clarity and continuity for the next generation.”

As people’s lives become increasingly digital, essential information can be spread across financial accounts, property records, business documents, investments, digital assets, passwords, insurance policies and personal records. The event will also address an increasingly important challenge – ensuring families know what assets exist, where important information is held and how it can be accessed when someone passes away.

A key element of the event’s reach and influence will be its partnership with YMM as official media partner, which will play a central role in amplifying the conversation across regional and international audiences. Far beyond traditional media coverage, YMM will help shape the narrative around wealth transfer and legacy planning, ensuring the discussions extend well beyond the event itself and into the wider public discourse.
