The Kremlin’s Foreign Minister has said that the US along with NATO and their allies are “intent” on “destroying” Russia.
Sergei Lavrov told Russian state TASS news agency that the actions of the “collective West” and Ukraine is to “defeat Russia.”
The Kremlin official backed Vladimir Putin’s war at the start of 2022 which saw Russian troops massing on the Ukrainian border before the full scale invasion started on 24 February.
Lavrov said that Moscow cannot maintain any normal diplomatic relations with the US after President Joe Biden’s full support to the Kyiv administration and Moscow has accused America of fighting a “proxy war.”

The Kremlin official said, “The actions of the countries of the collective West and (President Volodymyr) Zelenskyy under their control confirm the global nature of the Ukrainian crisis.
“It is no secret to anyone that the strategic goal of the US and its NATO allies is to defeat Russia on the battlefield as a mechanism for significantly weakening or even destroying our country.”
He added, “It is objectively impossible to maintain normal communication with the Biden administration, which declares the infliction of a strategic defeat on our country as a goal.”
Last week President Zelensky said that the US and Ukraine will both “jointly” win the war against Russian “tyranny.”
Zelensky said that the US and Ukraine will “fight” for a “common victory” against Russia and the United States share common values and have a common understanding of the meaning of life.
President Zelensky said, “And, of course, to be together with us jointly, because we really fight for our common victory against this tyranny.

Moscow has accused the US of fighting a “proxy war” and Washington has been warned to expect “consequences which cannot be imagined.”
Russia’s Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, warned that the move by the US is “provocative actions.”
Antonov said, “Despite our warnings, the Patriot air defense system will be sent to Kyiv.
“However, the country does not have specialists to work with them.
“So, will those be American specialists? Or citizens of another NATO country?
“They cannot but realise here that Western weapons are being systematically destroyed by our military.
“I think everyone understands perfectly well what fate the personnel, manning these complexes on the territory of Ukraine, can face.
“I want to emphasise that we have repeatedly tried and are still trying to appeal to common sense at all levels.
“It was stressed that the provocative actions by the US are steadily leading to an escalation, the consequences of which cannot even be imagined.”
