Here’s what happened
Trafalgar Square has been evacuated Thursday afternoon and Charing Cross station has been closed a “suspicious” item was found, police said.
A Met Police spokeswoman told the Standard: “We were called at 2.40pm to reports of a suspicious item in Duncannon Street.
“We have police in attendance. Cordons are in place and Charing Cross station has been closed as a precaution.”

Emergency services were quick on the scence along with a heavy police presence.
The Met police reopened all roads and and Traflagar Square at 3:20pm, the police said
