Ukraine’s general prosecutor has said that more than 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have deserted the war.
Ukraine is at a critical moment in the war and Russian forces have the “advantage” and “the initiative” on the battlefield.
Tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops have been charged under desertion laws as they walked away from their frontline positions.
One official who has knowledge of Ukrainian military matters said he believes the number of deserters could be as high as 200,000.
Ukrainian officials told the Association Press they are facing a staggering number of shortages in manpower on the front lines as they are tired and feel deprived and robbed.

Ukrainian military commanders have said that entire units left their posts and fled the lines which has led to rapid territorial losses and Russia is gaining more territory at their fastest pace since the war started because of they have deserted.
Some soldiers are arguing with their commanders and refusing to soldier, and this has been seen whilst they are in the middle of battle.
Some are taking medical leave and a traumatised by what they have been through and are also demoralised as it is looking likely Vladimir Putin could claim victory.
Oleksandr Kovalenko, a Kyiv-based military analyst warned, “This problem is critical.
“This is the third year of war, and this problem will only grow.”
Associated Press reported an officer with the 72nd Brigade said, “It is clear that now, frankly speaking, we have already squeezed the maximum out of our people.”
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has warned that Ukraine faces to “lose the war” if things continue as they are.
Speaking to the Financial Times Kuleba warned, “If it continues like this, we will lose the war.”
He was asked, Do we today have the means and tools to turn the tables and change the trajectory of how things are happening?”
Kuleba said, “No, we don’t. And if it continues like this, we will lose the war.”
Kuleba also warned that Ukraine could lose the war if they do not continue to receive funds to turn the war around.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister warned how difficult it is on the frontlines, he said that it is looking “bad.”
He told the FT, “It is true that the situation on the battlefield looks bad. But in the first months of 2022, everything looked even worse.
“What I hate in conversations with European and American experts – and I hate this word, which I usually do not use — is that everyone asks: what is Ukraine ready for, what is Ukraine ready to accept?
“And I say: guys, first find an answer to the question of what Putin is ready to accept. Because that’s where this war starts.”
