The Moldovan foreign ministry said the country’s head of diplomacy, Nicu Popescu, has ordered the urgent summoning of the Russian ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov to Chisinau after another cruise missile entered their airspace.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Valerii Zaluzhnyi wrote on Telegram, “Today, February 10, at 10:18 am, two Russian Kalibr cruise missiles crossed the State border of Ukraine with the Republic of Moldova.

“The missiles were launched from the Black Sea.”

Moldova’s Defence said, “The Ministry of Defence, together with the responsible structures of the country, is closely monitoring the situation in the region and strongly condemns the violation of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova.”

The Moldovan foreign ministry said in a statement, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration notes that the Russian side continues the war of aggression against Ukraine, and the missile attacks on the neighbouring country directly and negatively affect the citizens of our country.

“We strongly reject the recent unfriendly actions and statements in relation to the Republic of Moldova, a fact considered absolutely unacceptable by our people.

“We call on the Russian Federation to stop the military aggression against the neighbouring country which is causing numerous loss of human lives and material destruction.”

Kyiv warned on Thursday that they have “intercepted” plans by “Russian intelligence” to destroy Moldova and “establish control” over the country.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told EU leaders in Brussels on Thursday that he has been in contact with the Moldovan President Maia Sandu over Moscow’s plans, but is it not know when the intelligence intercepts took place.

President Zelensky told EU leaders, “I have informed [Sandu] her that we have intercepted the plan of the destruction of Moldova by the Russian intelligence.”

He told the leaders in Brussels that Ukrainian intelligence showed “who, when and how” Moscow’s plan would “break the democracy of Moldova and establish control over Moldova.”

Just last week the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he believes the West are wanting to turn Moldova into “another Ukraine.”

In October Moldova’s airspace was violated by Russia as three cruise missiles flew through from the Black Sea to Ukraine.

Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu has summoned the Russian ambassador to provide an explanation as to why their airspace was violated which is a breach of international law.

Popescu blasted Vladimir Putin for breaching their airspace to commit atrocities in Ukraine and condemns the violation in the “strongest possible terms.”

Moldova’s Foreign Minister tweeted, “Three cruise missiles launched on Ukraine this morning from Russian ships in the Black Sea crossed Moldova’s airspace.

“I instructed that Russia’s ambassador be summoned to provide an explanation.”
