Ukrainian forces who liberated the village of Andriivka last week have released video footage of Russia firing on their own soldiers after they were “surrendering en masse.”

The 3rd Separate Assault Infantry Brigade were under fire by Russian forces as they were clearing Russian positions in the village which has been completely “destroyed.”

Footage shows that three Russian soldiers surrender then lie on the floor, then a Russian artillery round explodes on top the troops.

The Ukrainian unit said that “one is captured in pieces, two are lucky and are taken out to live.”

They add,  “Just a fantastic story that happened during the storming of Andriivka.

“Assault group 2 of the mechanized battalion takes another group of prisoners.

“At the same time the enemy, realising that the village is lost and his soldiers are surrendering en masse, orders to open ‘fire on their own.’

“The shell arrives. There is silence at the command post, everyone is gray.

“The smoke clears – all our targets, one is captured in pieces, two are lucky and are taken out to live.

“Luck plays a role in war. The most important shots of the operation are ahead.”

Ukrainian forces conducted a “lightning-fast operation” which liberated the town of Andriyivka in just “two days.”

The operation saw the “elimination” of the 72nd separate motorized rifle brigade of Russia in the town based in the Donetsk region.

The third Ukrainian Separate Assault Brigade said in a statement, “As a result of a lightning-fast operation, the Russian garrison of Andriyivka was surrounded, cut off from the main forces and destroyed.

“In two days, the third Separate Assault Brigade eliminated: the head of the enemy’s brigade reconnaissance; three battalion commanders; almost the entire infantry of the 72nd brigade, along with officers and a significant amount of equipment.”

The Brigade command said, The capture and retention of the village of Andriyivka is our path to a breakthrough on the right flank from Bakhmut, and the key to the success of the entire further offensive.

“We are paying a high price for the results of these battles. And the blood of each of our fighters will be repaid only with blood.”

The press officer of the third Special Operations Brigade Oleksandr Borodin said the town was completely destroyed, adding there was no civilian population left in Andriyivka.
