The Russian ambassador and his staff at the embassy in London has been accused of acting like “savages” and it “should be shut down” after they said captured Brits in Ukraine should be “hanged.”

On Saturday the Russian embassy in London sent out a tweet warning that captured fighters should face a “humiliating death” and should be “hanged.”

They wrote on Twitter, “Azov militants deserve execution, but death not by firing squad but by hanging, because they’re not real soldiers.

“They deserve a humiliating death.”

Historian and author Professor Anthony Glees of the University of Buckingham told GB News, “The Russians have broken every agreement and treaty on Ukraine.

“They’re acting – you can’t say they’re acting like animals because animals don’t act like that – they’re acting like absolute war criminals and atrocious savages.

“In my book, the Russian Embassy in Kensington [they] should be told to go home and not return until they can behave in a civilised way in this country.”

In an interview on Breakfast with Stephen Dixon and Rosie Wright on GB News, he said, “Russia is clearly in a lot of trouble.

“We and the Americans assess that 75,000 Russian soldiers have either been killed or wounded.”

He added, “That’s a hell of a lot. And some 80% of active Russian forces are bogged down in the east of Ukraine.

“People will know Putin hoped to win this war in a matter of days and what has actually happened is that it’s grinding not just to a stalemate, but it does seem that the battle of Kherson will end up in Ukraine’s favour, that Russia will have a significant defeat.

“I actually think Russia continues to be the number one threat and if we let this war in Ukraine drag on, we will be doing untold harm to the Ukrainian people, but also to ourselves.

“The message from the head of MI6 is that we need to send more kit to Ukraine…Liz Truss, who looks like being the next Prime Minister, has made it very clear that she is not going to commit British troops to fighting in Ukraine, but we will do everything short of that.”
