Kremlin warns hypersonic missiles are aimed and ready which will ‘be able to reach targets in Europe much faster’

The Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council has issued a warning to the West that hypersonic missiles are aimed and ready to targets “even faster.”

This comes as the Kremlin are to hold referendums in occupied territories that Moscow now claims to be Russian land.

If there is any interference with the referendums whereby they will install Russian separatist officials and “there is no going back.”

Medvedev who is the former Russian Prime Minister said on Thursday, “Referendums will be held, and the Donbass republics and other territories will be admitted to Russia.

“The protection of all the territories that have joined will be significantly strengthened by the Russian Armed Forces.

“Russia announced that not only mobilisation capabilities, but also any Russian weapons, including strategic nuclear weapons and weapons based on new principles, could be used for such protection.”

Medvedev said they have hypersonic missiles which will “be able to reach targets in Europe and the United States much faster.”

He added, “The Western establishment and all citizens of NATO countries in general need to understand that Russia has chosen its own path.”

Sir Tony Brenton, the former UK ambassador to Russia, warned Putin’s partial mobilisation of 300,000 troops is a “pretty significant escalation” of the war thus far.

He told Sky News “Russia so far has been fighting this war with one hand tied behind its back, they refused to mobilise because Putin was worried about the effect on Russian public opinion.

“What Putin has now announced is the mobilisation which he’s been refusing to do since the war began.

“He has now accepted the advice of his military and has come back to the nuclear threat in the context of alleged nuclear threats from the West.

“Now, I don’t know whether he believes that or not, but it is obviously a very significant step up in the rhetoric that is going on.”

Once the Russian occupied territories are annexed into Russia then Vladimir Putin and Moscow will then warn the West that they are Russia’s “territorial integrity” and any Western involvement by supplying Ukraine with weaponry will therefore be seen as an attack on Russia.

On Wednesday Putting warned, “I would like to remind you that our country also has various means of destruction, and for some components more modern than those of the NATO countries.

“And if the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal to protect Russia and our people. It’s not a bluff.”

Moscow will hold referendums in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia where many parts has been recaptured by Ukraine.

On Wednesday Putin said that he will “liberate” the Donbas region and it will be fully under Russian control and he claimed that the people who live in the region do not want to be ruled by Kyiv.

Putin said in the national address, “Citizens of Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia and other areas free from the Nazi regime.

“We will be talking about the steps of protecting our sovereignty, support of the will and desire of our citizens to decide their will themselves.”
