A Russian MP has said there can only be a ceasefire after Ukrainian troops withdraw from Russian territory.
Sergey Mironov said there is other elements of the Russian peace formula, this may become the key topics of the upcoming phone conversation between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump on Tuesday.
This means that the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will have to give up the four regions that Moscow claims is now part of the Russian Federation.
Andriy Sybiha, Ukraineโs foreign minister said a red line for future peace in Ukraine is Kyiv will not give up their territory to Putin and they do not โrecogniseโ the occupied territories being Russian.
Mironov told LondonLovesBusiness.com, “President Trump earlier stated that the issue of territories will be discussed. But for Russia, there has been no such issue since 2022, when the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhzhia and [the] Kherson regions became part of it.
โWhat makes sense to discuss is the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Russian soil, which is a necessary condition on the path to peace.โ

He recalled that the relevant requirements were set out in detail by Putin back in June 2024.
He said, “The head of the Russian state clearly said: ‘As soon as the real withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of the Russian Federation begins and Kiev officially abandons NATO, Russia will immediately cease fire and start negotiations.
โIn the West, these conditions were called Putinโs ‘ultimatum,’ and they werenโt even going to consider it. Instead, they helped the Kiev regime to arrange a bloody adventure in the Kursk region, which is coming to its logical conclusion.
โNow Trump will have to deal with the mess that his predecessor left him.โ
Mironov added, “Today, this Russian plan is the only real formula for peace in Ukraine. Trump himself has already ruled out Ukraineโs accession to NATO, and he is also ready to recognize the conditions on the ground.
โNow the ball is in Zelenskyโs court, but it is he who is the main obstacle on the way to ending the conflict.โ
Ukraineโs foreign minister has said that โNATO cannot be removed from the agendaโ as Kyiv joining the alliance is โenshrined in the constitution of Ukraine.โ
He added that this is โa strategic choice of the Ukrainian people, and the most effective guarantee of Ukraineโs security.โ
