‘Tens of thousands of Ukrainians’ warned they ‘will go into the meat grinder’ before US military aid arrives

Russia has warned Ukraine that “tens of thousands” of Ukrainian troops “will go into the meat grinder” before the multibillion-dollar military aid packaged arrives.

Russian forces will step up their attacks from air, land and sea against Ukrainian troops and targets across the country, they have warned.

The House of Representatives passed a $60 billion military aid package for Ukraine as Russian forces are gaining ground in the war.

Ukrainian troops will find the next few weeks challenging as they have run low on ammunition and manpower and are outgunned one to 20 against the Russians who are rapidly advancing.

The West has been warned that Ukraine is “bleeding out” and troops are warning officials in Kyiv that they are gravely outgunned, running low on ammunition and have few troops left.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) think tank has warned, “Ukrainian forces may suffer additional setbacks in the coming weeks while waiting for US security assistance that will allow Ukraine to stabilise the front, but they will likely be able to blunt the current Russian offensive assuming the resumed US assistance arrives promptly.

“Russian forces will likely intensify ongoing offensive operations and missile and drone strikes in the coming weeks in order to exploit the closing window of Ukrainian materiel constraints.

First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, said it was “nothing to celebrate.”

He added that Ukraine “will function a little longer, more money will end up in their pockets, more weapons will be stolen, and tens of thousands of Ukrainians will go into the meat grinder.”

He continued, “But the inglorious end of the Kyiv regime is inevitable, regardless of this new [aid] package and all the futile efforts of their supporters in the US and NATO.”

On this note the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked the US to send the weapons and ammunition as soon as possible.

He said, “We’ve had the process stalled for half a year and we had losses in several

directions, in the east. It was very difficult and we did lose the initiative there.

“Now we have all the chance to stabilise the situation and to take the initiative, and that’s why we need to actually have the weapon systems.”

President Zelensky added, “as fast as possible so that we get some tangible assistance for the soldiers on the front line as soon as possible, not in another six months so that they would be able to move ahead.”

A journalist based in Ukraine, Oz Katerji, wrote on X, “I embedded with an artillery brigade on the frontlines of Europe.

“What I saw there should terrify Western leaders.

“Ukraine is bleeding out, and without immediate ammunition deliveries the total collapse of the eastern front is at risk.”

In a story for Foreign Policy he spoke with Ukrainian troops on the front, Oleh who is a tank driver, said, “We listen to their suffering, and we feel useless.

“These politicians should come and fight alongside me. Then they will see for themselves.

“If we don’t fight them back, then NATO will be left to fight Russia.”
