Vladimir Putin will get 80% in the presidential elections on 17 March, claims Mironov

The leader of the “Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth” party and faction in the State Duma, Sergey Mironov, has predicted that the Russian President Vladimir Putin will be re-elected for a new term with a result of about 80% of votes on 17 March.

He said that his party would do everything to ensure that the turnout in the elections was 75%.

Mironov told LondonLovesBusiness.com, “I have no doubt that on March 17, Vladimir Putin will be re-elected by an overwhelming majority of Russian citizens.

“There will be about 80% of the votes for him. The most important threat is people’s complacency. The fact is that many Russian citizens support Vladimir Putin, but they think, ‘Why would I go? He will be elected anyway.’ And they are ready to stay at home. But this is wrong.

“Imagine when Vladimir Putin gets 70–80% of the votes, and the turnout is 52–54%. What will the whole world say? Only half voted, and half stayed at home.

“This means that half of the people doubt Vladimir Putin‘s policies. In this regard, we want the turnout to be at least 75%.”
