A “major incident” has been declared and London Bridge has been placed on lockdown after a van has reportedly ploughed into a crowd of pedestrians and second incident has happened at Borough Market.

The Metropolitan Police have said that these two incidents have been “declared as terrorist incidents.”

Pubs and bars are still being evacuated as hundreds were our out eating and drinking. Residents were evacuated and people could be seen in their pyjamas and some were bare foot, other residents outside the cordons are being advised to lock their doors and keep their windows closed.

London Ambulance Service are asking people to dial 111 if you genuinly do not need an ambulance as they are dealing with the police with two terrorist incidents.

A man called Ben said to the BBC: “I saw a man in red with quite a large blade, I don’t know the measurement I guess maybe 10 inches. He was stabbing a man…he stabbed him about three times fairly calmly.”

“It looked the man had maybe been trying to intervene but there wasn’t much that he could do he was being stabbed quite coldly and he slumped to the ground.”

“The attacker and another man walked off quite “boldly”.

He added: “A table was thrown, a bottle was thrown at the individual with the knife and then we heard three gunshots and we ran.”

Armed police are investigating and the bridge has been closed in both directions and eyewitnesses have reported seeing a van that had deliberately ploughed into people and men jumped out of the van and started stabbing people.

Another eyewitness who is ex-military said he heard “significant rapid gunfire that went on for a while before the police had responded” that started the attack on London Bridge.

Another eyewitnes said to BBC News: “I started to see dozens of people walking and running away, clearly distraught. Mostly young people, many of them in tears.”

“Men walking in an almost zombiefied state, in shock.”

“It appears there was a stabbing at the same time. There were gun shots, people heard multiple gun shots, at least 12 shots.”

“I’ve spoken to multiple witnesses who said they have seen at least three people lying on the ground.”

Will Orton said to the Press Association: “We were in the Sheaf pub. Basically lots of people came running inside, we didn’t really know what was going on.”

“We thought maybe there was a fight or something outside. And then there were almost hundreds of people coming inside.”

“The bouncers did a really good job, they shut the doors and locked everyone in.”

Another witness has just said that he has seen people with clear injuries that are those of people being run over.”

Scotland Yard said Saturday evening that police officers are at the scene and they will update with further information. London Ambulance Service have said multiple resources have attended.

A spokesman for Downing Street said: “The Prime Minister is in contact with officials and is being regularly updated on the incident at London Bridge.”

Footage from the scene:

Police have tweeted:

Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn has tweeted his message saying his thoughts are with the victims and has given his thanks to the emergency services.

The prime minister, Theresa May has said this evening that this it a “potential act of terrorism” and there are reports that the police have have now removed a van and knifes from London Bridge.

We may have to wait until the morning to have a full update from the Metropolitan Police as this is a fast moving investigation.
