A former Russian MP has said he is convinced that Vladimir Putin “will be killed” this year and he will not see his “next birthday” in a coup to assassinate the tyrant.
Former Russian MP Ilya Ponomarev who now lives in Ukraine was the only member of parliament who went against Putin and voted against Crimea being annexed in 2014.
Ponomarev now leads a movement in the hope that it will bring Moscow into a modern-day democracy.
Speaking to Newsweek Ponomarev said, “Putin’s power resides in his position as an alpha male, as the person who is invincible. 2022 was the year when this position started to wane.
“My forecast still remains that he will not see his next birthday.”

Beijing officials believe ‘Putin is insane’ Moscow ‘will fail in Ukraine’ and Russia will emerge as a ‘minor power’
Moscow’s ‘scorched earth’ tactics leaves ‘almost no life left’ and Russian ‘rockets are hitting their own troops’ which are killing them
UK ‘are accelerating support to Ukraine’ with ‘next generation military technology that will help win this war’
He would also like to see Putin put on trial for war crimes at The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, however he does not believe this would ever happen.
He said, “My personal dream obviously is to see him in The Hague but I don’t think that he will make it.
“Those around him will not allow him to go to The Hague, because his testimony may actually be very harmful for them.
“He will be killed.”
Russia’s former President Dmitry Medvedev previously warned of a nuclear war if Moscow is punished for war crimes and told the ICC they must not punish them, in a sign that the Kremlin are clearly worried.
Medvedev warned that the “existence of mankind” is under threat and said the ICC should be careful attacking a country who has the “largest nuclear potential.”
He pointed out to the ICC that they never punished the US for their global aggression, and they should refrain from trying to “legal void” actions against Moscow.
“And potentially threatens the existence of mankind.”
Medvedev has branded the US as a “daredevil or an idiot” accusing them of trying to “sow chaos and destruction” through the ICC.
Medvedev added in yet another rant, “All American history, from the time of the conquest of the Indians, is a bloody war of annihilation. And we are talking about the most brutal extermination of the civilian population.
“It has become a signature style of American politics, whoever is in power there. During World War II, the United States destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki in this way – only to justify the huge expenses for the nuclear ‘Manhattan Project.’
“Vietnam and Korea, Yugoslavia and Iraq, Cuba, Afghanistan and Syria are well aware of how disastrous the consequences of such invasions are – the list is long, and constantly updated.
“America has killed more than 20 million people in 37 countries since the end of World War II, according to a study published in Global Research.”
Medvedev continued, “The number of victims of the criminal policy of the United States today is comparable to the victims of the Nazi regime.
“So who’s going to give us a show trial?
“Those who kill people and commit war crimes with impunity, but do not meet real condemnation in the international structures financed by them?
“Those who kill people and commit war crimes with impunity, but do not meet real condemnation in the international structures financed by them?
“Those who so firmly believed in their exclusivity and impunity?
“Those who believe they have the right to judge others, but be beyond the jurisdiction of any court?
‘With Russia, this will not work. They understand this very well. Therefore, the filthy dogs of war stop by with their disgusting bark.
“But the United States and their useless mongrels should remember the words of Scripture: “Judge not, lest you be judged; So that one day ‘the great day of His wrath will not come to their house, and who can stand?’.”
