A BBC project to rebuild the set of EastEnders soap is now expected to cost £27m more than originally planned and is also years behind schedule as designers must hand-paint every brick to make them look like the old ones.

A National Audit Office report has now found the BBC “would not be able to deliver value for money… in the way that it envisaged in 2015”. A forecast in 2015 determined the extensive project would cost £59.7m.
The original external EastEnders set at the BBC’s Elstree Centre in Hertfordshire dates back to the soap’s beginning in 1984. It was only supposed to be used for two years but has lasted for 34.
The new Eastenders set has gone over budget by £27 Million quid.
Have you ever massively gone over budget on something?
