Two rockets were fired at an Iranian oil tanker in the Red Sea near to Saudi Arabian port.
Iranian news agency ISNA said the tanker called the Sabity belongs to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and oil is spilling into the Red Sea. ISNA said that “experts believe it was a terrorist attack.”
Tasnim news agency who are linked with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said, “Technical experts on board are looking into the reasons behind the explosion but they think it is was a terrorist attack.
“The tanker is currently in a stable situation and the crew are safe.”
The suspected terrorist attack has sent oil prices rise, Brent crude went up on Friday morning by 2.22% to $60.41 and WTI crude rose 2.11% to $54.68.
Foreign ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi on state TV said, “Those behind the attack are responsible for the consequences of this dangerous adventure, including the dangerous environmental pollution caused.”
